In light of the recent National Indigenous Peoples Day, we wanted to commemorate the indigenous people and communities in Canada. We also wanted to recognize the Canadian organizations fighting for the rights and wellbeing of the Indigenous communities, specifically True North Aid.
This charity provides support and humanitarian assistance to northern indigenous communities in Canada. To do so, they have 3 programs, see Figure 1. Furthermore, they believe that self-governance and self-determination are the key in closing the poverty gap that indigenous communities face. True North Aid is supported by an experienced board of Directors, 2 Indigenous Elders who advise their charity, Indigenous representatives, and partners with over 35 years of experience.
